Not just another travel website, Letstravelborneo has the mission to provide one-stop travel information on the Malaysian side of Borneo.

Wary of most travel blogs out there with their subjective and clickbait oriented content, letstravelBorneo aims to inform on the destinations it covers. Besides the main (tourist) highlights, this includes a full picture of the area with relevant background information and why its worth going here and for whom. That, together with some personal touch and plenty of pictures.

Hence, it is all about providing valuable information on the destination. Any referral links are handpicked to only the ones providing the best value.

Background

The idea of setting up Lets Travel Borneo originates from traveling Sabah and Sarawak in 2022 and 2023. Although there is plenty to see and do on Borneo, it became apparent that tourism in the area is still underdeveloped. Although there is plenty of information on Borneo available out there, it is almost never complete. Hence it often requires visiting multiple websites to get a full picture on different places.

As a passionate traveling Dutchie I moved to Singapore in 2021 after Covid allowed us to get back on the road (or plane as to speak). After traveling to Dubai and India before returning back to Singapore, I got intrigued about Borneo, just 1-2 hours away (depending on the state) from Singapore. It seemed the ideal location to go somewhere different and away from the touristic hotspots in Asia. With the promise of great wildlife and pristine nature, it beholds to the adventurous. Sure, having a Malaysian girlfriend certainly added to the list of reasons as well. What started out as a roundtrip exploring Sabah and later on also Sarawak has led to my free promotion of Malaysian tourism and the great wonders of Borneo.
